1. day – Maltatal – Weißensee

Via the 14.4 km long and winding Malta Hochalmstraße you reach the Kölnbrein dam and the Kölnbreinspeicher. If you want you can learn inside the Kölnbreinsperre worth knowing about the environmentally friendly power generation from hydropower in the context of a dam wall guidance and enjoy the breathtaking view on the “Airwalk” at the Kölnbreinsperre. Discover the diverse and high-alpine landscape around the Kölnbreinspeicher!Get to know the unique nature experience in front of impressive natural scenery in the Weissensee Nature Park. Am Weissensee, at an altitude of 930 m to 2,200 m in the Gailtal Alps, lives more intensively, quieter and more enjoyably. It is no coincidence that the purest bathing lake in the Alps is also called the “Playground of Nature”, because it creates a framework for nature that benefits everyone, such as the fact that motorboats are frowned upon here, and residents who only pay due consideration are economically active on the natural space.

2. day – Millstätter See – Nockberge

With a length of 11.5 kilometers and a width of up to 1.8 kilometers to the Wörthersee, Lake Millstatt is Carinthia’s second largest lake. But at 141 meters, it is the deepest and, with 1,204.5 million cubic meters, by far the richest lake in the southernmost federal state. It has drinking water quality and is one of the warmest bathing lakes in Carinthia. The Swiss Stone Pine – the “Queen of the Alps” – and the rare Speik native to the area are in the center of the green, less wooded Nockberge. As the oldest mountain region of Carinthia, this natural jewel has its very own character. Here, a valuable natural and cultural landscape is maintained and protected.
